St. Joe River Outing September 2024

Latest Huckleberry Campground alert for those who want to attend this year's St. Joe River outing after Labor Day: Reservations for Huckleberry Campground have been turned on for the 2024 season. Reservations will be available until September 3, 2024. After that time, the campground will switch to First Come – First Serve due to resurfacing of the campground taking place sometime in September after Labor Day weekend. When we have specific dates, the campground will be unavailable to allow resurfacing to take place and will reopen when completed. We expect the process to take approximately 1-2 weeks. For any further questions, please contact the BLM’s Coeur d’Alene Field office at (208) 769-5000.

The good news is you don't have to worry about making a reservation this year; the bad news is you can't make a reservation this year. If I read this latest alert correctly, the campground will be closed during the actual resurfacing.

Given the uncertainty of being able to stay at the Huckleberry campground this year, and not wanting to miss a second outing to the St. Joe, I went ahead and made reservations at The Cabins By the Joe & RV Park in Avery. While there are no more RV spots available during the dates for our outing, they do have some cabins available for those dates, at least as of a few days ago. Their website is https://cabinsbythejoe.com. I was unable to get anyone at the Cutthroat Resort to answer their phone after trying for several weeks, but their website states "Coming Soon," so they must still be in hibernation, but I was unwilling to wait. The website for the Cutthroat Resort is https://cutthroatresort.com.
