Let's go Fishing

The Big Burn by Timothy Egan

I just finished this book, which I am sure many of you have already read. Guess I'm a day late and a dollar short. But if you have not read it, you should. It is focused upon a massive fire which consumed much of Idaho, Montana, and Washington at the turn of the last century. I mention it here because the St. Joe, which many of you love to fish, plays a prominent role. A great easy to read history of how fires, politics and the world we live in today all evolved. I have never fished the St. Joe, but this book makes me want to go there more than ever.

For those of you who camp in the Huckleberry Campground along the St. Joe, the large burned snag near the campground entrance is a relic of the 1910 fire.
