Fishing report
Really sorry and disappointed I had to miss the meeting this week. Work threw a curveball and I had to attend to it. I wanted to say a quick thank you to all the club members I got to fish with during the Belfair State Park outing. It was a wonderful day and I appreciate everyone being so welcoming! I fished a fair amount since last meeting with limited success. Two fish I want to post about and two new waters I wanted to mention:
Fish of the year for me: 26'' SeaRun Bulltrout at Ala Spit. Dusk large tidal swing, flood tide. No great photos as I didn't take him out of the water but a couple worth posting.
A less exciting but another first: A pumpkinseed sunfish at Pass at dusk on a simi seal leech. I assume this is not good news when you catch sunfish in Pass . . .
Cady Lake: I had read about this lake on a occasion when researching waters over on the eastside of peninsula. It is fly fish only. I only had an hour to fish it on my way back from Belfair State park and didnt catch anything but it seems like a very nice lake and worth exploring a little more. It was very challenging to find the access point. I tried to enter where the sign is for the Manor and there is no way to access this way without walking through private property. The public access is a little further down the road with no signs. I have attached a map if interested.
Jefferson Lake:
This is another lake I explored on the east side of peninsula. It is a beautiful 1700' lake in the Hamma Hamma watershed. It is short downhill hike to the lake so easy to carry in a float tube. Beautiful scenery. I hooked into what appeared to be a nice sized rainbow but lost it before landing. Just an FYI.
Book Recommendation: Stillwater Presentation By Denny Rickards. This is a dense book that I'm just starting to work my way through. Lots of good stuff! Link
Wishing everyone a wonderful summer. Hope to see some of you out fishing.

Thanks for all the info Joe! Great fishing with you at Belfair. Had a great time even though the catching wasn’t so great. Glad you could join us!
