I went Fishing

Fishing log to date Wednesday Sept 3rd.

Prospected viewed North and west beaches at Deception Pass. 1/2 hour viewing at each on Friday 8.15. No fish rolling or jumping.

Opening day Sat 8.16, fished Ala spit for one hour, 3 cars, another fly fisher saw one roll. Caught 6" sculphin.

Mon 8.18, fished early am for 1 hour, high turbitity, zero strikes.

Wed 8.20 , fished early am for 1 hour, muddy and zero strikes.

Fri 8.22, early am, fished 1 hour zero strikes.

Les Books and I went to Loreto and fished Rubio Sportsfishing Capt Carlos.

Les wanted to catch his first roosterfish. It only took 10 minutes, his first of about 8 or 9 hook ups each, including one that took off on a 150 yard plus run (probably over 30#) and wrapped Les's fly line around a rock and sawed the line off. We also caught Jack Caravelle to 20#, needle fish, trumpet fish, more than 6 varieties of pargo/snapper incluing mangrove, yellow eye, pink, orange, etc. Also cabrilla (sea bass), pompano, yellowtail at 22#, and saw a marlin and a small dorado

Les did his best and bbq'd steaks, etc while I fried in eggs and cracker crumbs olive oil and butter yellowtail, cabrilla, pompano, and snapper. We also cooked some 6 to a pound giant shrimp and octopus.

Les also reacquainted with Beyonce his favorite tabby cat.

The pool…

Me and some great friends went north to BC. Once again no disappointments were had. Last time i was was at this lake was in 2018 and it was time to be back.

I joined my son and his wife on the DesChutes for 2 1/2 days camping, rafting, fishing for steelhead. My son got 3, I got one sucker....Then I joined him fishing a few days later on the Nehalem in OR, first for SRCs: I hooked three, landed one. He got two. Then we went for chinook and sat in a large pool of rolling chinook, but NONE took. Also have fished a local Whidbey Is. favorite and been skunked, again. Hooked one good fish there in about 8 outings since moving here.....
