Skagit River Humpy Flyfishing
Fishing log to date Wednesday Sept 3rd.
Prospected viewed North and west beaches at Deception Pass. 1/2 hour viewing at each on Friday 8.15. No fish rolling or jumping.
Opening day Sat 8.16, fished Ala spit for one hour, 3 cars, another fly fisher saw one roll. Caught 6" sculphin.
Mon 8.18, fished early am for 1 hour, high turbitity, zero strikes.
Wed 8.20 , fished early am for 1 hour, muddy and zero strikes.
Fri 8.22, early am, fished 1 hour zero strikes.
Sunday 8.24, fished 2 hours early am, caught 2, still quite muddy.
Mon 8.25, fished 2 hours early am. zero strikes.
Thurs 8.28 fished in boat at Bush pt with Steve Aguilu,, caught 2in 6 hrs
Sunday 8.31, zero strikes in 2 hrs.
Mon 9.1, 3 hr early am. fished 3 hrs, lost 3, caught 2
Tues 9.2 3 hrs 630 to 930 am. caught 2 and lost 3.
Noticed from concrete usgs river height guage that river rose from good 14.5 ft to 15+ this am, so skagit will rise accordingly in 24 hr and will probably get muddier. Has been clearing up slightly and is now quite fishable for flies.
Fished with Mark H from 730am to 1130 Sat. Lost a 8-10 # coho after three jumps and 6 pinks and landed one pink.
River was 10.6 ft and clear to 2 ft +..
