Cranberry Lake at Deception Pass State Park

The Cranberry Lake parking area near the boat launch was damaged in a storm this winter. The launch is not damaged, but access to the launch area is closed to vehicles. The road itself is not damaged until you get to the parking lot, and it is an easy 1 mile walk in. It is quite scenic with almost no people. I saw one person fishing from shore.

From where I am standing there use to be about 10-12 more feet of parking area. Debris covers most of the remaining parking lot. The building in the background was not damaged, but does have a lot of debris between it and the Sound (to my left in the picture).

Some salt water got into the lake as this photo shows. There were a few of these washouts scattered around the launch area.

We asked the guy at the entrance when it was going to repaired, and they don't know. He gave a 50:50 chance of it opening this year. The Park is asking for FEMA funds to help with repair. On top of this, middens (ancient human dump sites) were uncovered by the storm, which will now add another layer of bureaucracy to a solution.
