Change to Website Share Info

Just testing out this improved feature of our website. If anyone has any comments, please feel free to chime in. Share Info has been a great tool in the past and hopefully, it is even better now.

FYI, all the old posts were brought forward with this change so we shouldn't have lost anything. If you notice anything weird, please let me know.

Phil;

Nicely done! New to sharing comment, and maybe too wordy in my first trial. Pete's club fly-tying course yesterday instructed by Carl was great! Hope to entice a Coho with the Starlight Leech on upper Skagit tomorrow. Ron

Current Water Quality

Toxic algae has returned with longer summer days and higher water temperatures. The bloom will likely continue through the summer, fueled by phosphorus release from the sediments in the deeper parts of the lake. A sample collected on June 7th had an anatoxin concentration of 242 ug/L, which is well above the recreational contact guideline for the Department of Health of 1 ug/L. Therefore, avoid contact with the lake water; keep children, livestock and pets away; if eating caught fish, clean them well and discard guts; be aware of symptoms of toxic algae poisoning (skin and eye irritation, gastrointestinal and neurological issues, potential liver damage and other serious health problems). The County will continue to sample the lake for toxins through the summer. You can see the results here: https://www.nwtoxicalgae.org

Suggestions for Methow access, flies, techniques?

I'm going to E. Washington for few days and thought I might drive over N. Cascades Hwy and fish the Methow for a few hours. New water to me: any suggestions on where to access? (I'll be on foot). Any other info about bugs, etc would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Dean

You can also check with Mark Nilson. I understand that he was headed over there this weekend. He was thinking that the river might be too high to fish given the Spring runoff.

I am not an expert on the Methow but I have floated it before. It is a beautiful river to fish and the way you fish it and flies etc. are exactly what you might expect with any Eastern WA river. I don't know any secret , wade in spots but I suspect just about any pull-off would work. Parachute Adams, Pheasant Tail Nymphs and if all else fails, a squirmy wormy can always save the day.
